Our Story

Lindsay and Eddie Clark founded Lo-Tide Press on the foggy shores of Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Years of study in Fine Art, Graphic Design, and an appreciation of typography and printmaking have led us where we are now. Our name, Lo-Tide Press, is a reflection of our mutual love for the ocean, surf, and the sandy toes we got from daily walks down the beach to go surfing or play with our dog Callie. Lo-Tide Press began when we bought and restored “Pixie” an old rusted bench top press and some antique metal type. Soon after, we acquired and restored “Clementine” a 110 year old C&P platen press. A few years later we adopted another even bigger press, “Rosie” and restored her bringing our combined weight of cast iron presses and antique type to just over three tons. Recently we moved to our new home in Petaluma and our presses are back in action.

All our printing is done by hand, one piece at a time. We aspire to be as green as possible and use environmentally responsible materials and our presses are entirely human powered.
